about my masks

Fabric

I use cotton, organic cotton, linen and linen cotton blends.

All fabric is pre-washed in hot water and dried on high heat. This means the fabric is going to be softer, wrinkle less, and you can wash them however you like without fear of shrinkage.

Ties

My mask ties range from functional, comfortable, and fun.

Elastic

Some of my ties are elastic and can be fully laundered. Some tuck behind the ears while others are to be tied behind the head and neck.

Paracord

Some of my ties are paracord. These ties feature hi-vis reflective tracers and/or metallic highlights that complement the fabric. I remove the inner part of the cord to lighten their weight. While they can be washed, they should not be put in the dryer. They are easily removed and replaced if you want to switch them out.

Construction

Because masks are to be washed often, I take care to sew them to withstand being laundered over and over and over again. Linens are sewn with rolled hems, french seams, surged and top stitched, all to prevent fraying. Cottons are pinked and/or sewn with a rolled hem.

All masks have a channel for a nose bridge insert. The channel is sewn so that the bridge itself can be removed or switched out. For those who do not wear glasses I have a wired padded with a soft rubber. For those who do wear glasses I have a flat, thin and malleable metal piece that will not rust.
